Fundamental measures

1. 100% quality requirement
Poorly defined product development objectives, a lack of harmonisation of jobs and responsibilities, as well as the constant pressure to reduce costs can all result in some dangerous compromises on quality. From the very start of the development process Arnold’s Effective Programme sets about creating close collaboration and clearly defined roles and responsibilities, as well as an effective and cooperative quality management system. Such a focussed approach provides sustained support for the cost optimisation concept.

2. Process-oriented approach
The decision to implement intelligent fastening technology will result, on its own, in a considerable reduction in the cost of manufacture. The process-oriented approach of the Effective Programme produces cost reduction potential at the assembly and screw location preparation stages. According to long-term studies it is possible to reduce costs by up to 80% of the overall fastening cost.

3. Continuous Engineering Support
In order to fully exploit every ounce of cost optimisation potential the Effective Programme provides Engineering Support at the engineering design and development stage, and it is also taken into consideration at the later bulk production stage. The actual construction process takes up a mere 10 per cent of the overall costs, but it affects 70 of the consequential costs.
